The female firefighter starring in a new adrenaline-filled fly-on-the-wall RTÉ show has told how she hopes the series will break down the traditional stereotypes around the famous red engine.

Saving lives is all part of her day, but Linda Scully reveals she has to keep up a tough exercise regime to cope with some of the gruelling physical demands of responding to 999 calls at Dublin’s Fire and Rescue Service.

The series gives a revealing glimpse behind the dramatic real-life scenes of firefighters rescuing people from burning buildings, performing life-saving medical procedures and plucking people from rivers as part of their 133,000 calls a year.
