Boy, 5, narrowly avoids blinding from parcel bomb

A five-year-old boy could have been blinded and seriously disfigured if a package containing an incendiary device had ignited after it was delivered to a family home, according to gardaí.

The boy picked up the package shortly after it was delivered to a house in a Cork suburb on Thursday by an unsuspecting postman.

The child passed the package onto his father who became suspicious and immediately contacted the gardaí.
