FAI hope Euro 2012 will encourage stars of future to attend soccer camp

With soccer fever breaking out across Europe, the FAI is hoping it will encourage stars of the future to come to 27 soccer camps it is organising in Cork this summer.

The FAI says it will be able to host more than 1,400 children at the week-long eFlow FAI summer schools, which get underway across the county on July 1.

The organisers are advising parents to sign up their children before June 15 so they can avail of an early booking discount.

These soccer schools are open to boys and girls aged six to 14 years of all abilities.

There will also be different camps one specifically for girls and one for goalkeepers.

The camps, which will be overseen by FAI-accredited coaches, will provide an opportunity for children to learn new skills, develop existing skills, have fun and benefit from the guidance of some of Ireland’s best soccer coaches.

Each participant will receive a full set of kit, a football and a backpack on the first day of the training camps.

Ireland international Stephen Ward, who has himself participated in summer soccer schools as a youngster, is hoping lots of children will sign up.

“I encourage young people from County Cork and their families to get involved in the eFlow FAI Summer Soccer Schools programme.

“I participated in the camps when I was a kid and not only did it help me to improve as a player, it was also great fun during the summer holidays,” Stephen said.

Simon McBeth, director of communications and customer relations at eFlow, said the company is delighted to support the summer soccer schools programme.

“The summer soccer schools is a fun and healthy way for young people to spend their free time over the summer, and is the type of community initiative that we are pleased to support,” Mr McBeth said.

As an additional bonus and to mark the beginning of the soccer schools, eFlow is offering free jersey personalisation to the first 200 eFlow customers who book their place at any of the camps around the country.
