Coalition warned of ‘bad news’ backlash

The Fianna Fáil leader has warned of very negative repercussions if the Government is found to have been “sitting on bad news” ahead of the referendum.

Micheál Martin was commenting on reports that the Government was poised to open the floodgates on bad news announcements across a range of sectors in the wake of Friday’s yes vote.

Mr Martin said he hoped the Coalition was not holding off on certain announcements in the weeks running up to polling day, in a bid to secure a yes vote.
