Appeals for two missing men

THE parents of two missing men feared murdered have issued fresh appeals for information about the whereabouts of their sons.

Appeals for two missing men

Bob and Nancy Shanahan, and Teresa Carroll, appealed for help as they laid flowers at the memorial plaque to businessman Roy Collins, who was murdered three years ago this week.

Roy’s father, Steve, always supported the Shanahans and Carrolls as the three families campaigned for justice for their sons. Last month, Mr Collins, his wife and children, were forced to flee Limerick as part of a Garda relocation programme after receiving constant threats from criminals.

The Shanahans and Mrs Carroll asked people with information about their sons’ disappearances to take seriously the inscription on Roy Collins’ memorial plaque: “The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing.”

A heartbroken Bob Shanahan, 69, whose son Gussie has been missing for 12 years, said: “Steve Collins did an appeal for us after his son died here, to ask those people who know something, to come forward and not be hiding behind the bushes. We want to show solidarity with the Collins’s. Even though they have closure, they have been haunted out of the place. We are at the other end of it. We have no closure.

Anyone with information about the disappearances of Gussie Shanahan or Mathew Carroll can contact Searching for the Missing group in confidence on 085-2092119 or Roxboro Road Garda Station on 061-214340.
