Polls form ‘no foundation’ on which to rejuvenate FF

Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin has dismissed veiled criticism of his leadership style as he prepares for the party’s first ard fheis in three years.

He said this weekend’s event would provide the perfect launch pad for the recovery of the party a year on from its disastrous general election result.

Following a weekend poll showing its support at just 16%, its spokesman on public expenditure, Sean Fleming, commented that the party was “over cautious”.
