Jedheads strip down to their Jedknicks
According to the National Parents Council’s post-primary section: “Most parents would not have given permission to their children to wear their underwear as outerwear.”
Eyebrows have been raised at pictures of the young Jedward fans who gathered outside RTÉ on Friday night to support their heroes, who were going for a Eurovision double with their song ‘Waterline’.
Eager to create a “jepic” beach, they arrived laden with beach balls, streamers and a blow-up paddling pool, which they promptly filled with water and washing up liquid to create their own foam party.
Then it was on with the bikinis for a strut around outside Montrose. Others just stripped down to their underwear.
It has also been reported that some of the girls, some as young as 14, were flashing their breasts at RTÉ staff and pounding on the front of the studio building, desperate for a glimpse a television screen to see how the competition was going.
The boys from Lucan were eventually picked to represent Ireland at the Eurovision for the second year in a row.
Earlier in the week, the Grimes twins tweeted “WE LOVE ALL THE FANS IN DUBLIN THEY ROCK! POOL PARTY TOMORROW WHOS IS COMING!” and “EVERYONE BRING GOGGLES! FLOATS! WATER! PA PA PA PARTY!”
NPC spokeswoman, Jackie O’Callaghan said: “I do wonder if the parents of these young people knew that they were equipped with the pools and the bikinis. It’s quite obvious that some had planned ahead and had bikinis. Others possibly got caught up in the moment and decided to strip off.”
Jedward will represent Ireland at the Eurovision semi-final in Azerbaijan on May 22. The final takes place on May 26.
Last year, they came eighth in the competition with their song ‘Lipstick’.
