Republican group claims killing and warns drug dealers

A group calling itself Republican Action Against Drugs has admitted killing a man in Donegal and warned more deaths could follow.

Republican group claims killing and warns drug dealers

The group said it killed Andrew Allen, 24, at a house in Links View Park, Lisfannon, Buncrana, on Feb 9. The father of two was killed when two gunmen shot through his bedroom window — narrowly missing his girlfriend.

The group said its Donegal unit shot Allen, claiming he was a “death dealer” and “career criminal”.

The organisation warned other drug dealers to stop or they would face the same consequences.

The vigilante group said it had warned Allen to “cease his activities five to six months ago” but he had not done so.

RAAD also threatened against six other unnamed individuals and warned they would face “the ultimate sanction”.

The vigilantes claimed they were forced to call off a second attack on the night of the murder because of increased police activity in Derry.

Mr Allen was one of several men forced out of his native Derry by RAAD last year. A car was found burnt out a short distance away at Fahan not long after the attack.

Superintendent Kevin English, who is leading the investigation, said he understood from the dead man’s family that the threat to his life had been lifted.

“I have spoken to the family and they did not believe his life was in danger and that a previous threat had been lifted.

“If he believed there was a genuine threat on his life he would not have been sleeping in the downstairs bedroom. There were many other more secure rooms in the house.”
