A big price to see the Material Girl
Madonna’s MDNA World Tour, which begins May 29 in Tel Aviv, Israel, will stop in 26 European cities.
Ireland will host the queen of pop for one night only at the Aviva stadium on July 24.
While tickets can be purchased for as little as €50 in some countries, the prices are considerably higher in Ireland and Britain.
Two gold circle standing tickets in the Aviva stadium will set fans back €212, while two seating tickets cost up to €294.
The prices are similar in London where Madonna will perform at the Hyde Park on July 17. The tickets for the Aviva and Hyde Park went on sale yesterday, with prices for Hyde Park costing as much as £250 (€300) for two seated tickets.
However, venues across Britain do not believe the astronomical prices will deter the English fans as they expect all tour dates to sell out.
The Material Girl has received criticism about the pricey tickets but she shrugged it off in an interview with the Daily Beast, saying that it wasn’t that much money.
The American pop icon said “People spend $300 on crazy things all the time, things like handbags. So work all year, scrape the money together, and come to my show.”
And not many of her fans hesitated to spend their hard-earned cash on the queen of pop.
The MDNA tour has already seen instant sell- outs in Berlin, Amsterdam, New York City’s Yankee Stadium, Philadelphia, Boston, Los Angeles, Seattle, Washington, Toronto and Vancouver. Indeed, many of the locations even announced extra dates to cope with unprecedented demand.
