Irish Examiner columnist named travel journalist of year

TRAVEL writer Isabel Conway has been named as Travel Journalist of the Year for a series of columns written for the Irish Examiner.

Ms Conway received the overall award at a ceremony to coincide with the annual Holiday World Show at the RDS in Dublin. She took the top prize for a series of articles with the Irish Examiner which covered a range of the award categories.

Nine other winners, each for different holiday categories, were announce at a gala dinner in Thomas Prior House in Ballsbridge, Dublin at the weekend.

With the award winners chosen by a distinguished panel of senior Irish journalists, organisers said this year “saw a huge increase in the number of submissions from previous years, displaying the creativity and continuing innovation of travel and tourism journalism in Ireland”.

The ceremony coincided with the 23rd Holiday World Show in the RDS, which saw record crowds attending.
