Man fights for life after being found with head injuries

The 30 year old was found yesterday with serious head injuries by a passer-by in the Townparks area of Carrick-on-Shannon.

He was rushed to Sligo General Hospital where he remains in a critical condition. The area has been sealed off for a technical examination.

Gardaí have appealed for any witnesses or anyone who was in the area between midnight and 3.30am, to come forward.

Elsewhere the Garda Ombudsman is still trying to identify a man who is seriously ill in hospital after being found unconscious in a cell.

The man was taken to Pearse Street Garda station on Friday evening, when he refused to go in an ambulance after an apparent black out outside the Arlington Hotel on Lord Edward Street, Dublin.

He was later taken to St James’ Hospital where he remains in a serious condition. The Garda Ombudsman is asking anybody with information to contact 1890 600 800.

The man aged in his late 40s to early 50s, is of white complexion, of slight build and has greyish hair and a moustache.
