Colleagues remember victim of flood

TRIBUTES have been paid to a hospice nurse who died when her basement flatflooded.

Celia Ferrer De Jesus, from the Philippines was found dead on Tuesday morning after emergency services pumped water out of her home in Crumlin, south Dublin.

The 58-year-old had been a staff member at Our Lady’sHospice and Care Services in Harold’s Cross for 10 years.

Mo Flynn, the hospice chief executive, said it was with great sadness colleagues heard the news of her tragic death.

“During her 10 years with us Celia was a highly valued member of staff who provided excellent service wherever she was required. All of our staff are deeply moved by this very sad tragedy.”

Ms Flynn extended her deepest sympathies to Celia’s husband Angelito and 19-year-old son Michael Kevin, as well as her family in the Philippines and many friends and colleagues in Dublin.

The nurse was the second victim of the flash floods which also claimed the life of Garda Ciaran Jones.
