Woman held after graveyard thefts

A ROMANIAN woman has been remanded in continuing custody charged with handling statues and ornaments stolen from graves at a Co Galway cemetery last August.

Crisa Rostas, aged 30, with a rental address at Loughgeorge, Claregalway, Co Galway, appeared in custody before Galway District Court yesterday. She is charged with five counts of handling the ornaments, knowing they were stolen from Lackagh cemetery which is just half a mile from her home, on October 4 last.

The woman had appeared at a special court sitting last week along with her husband, Marian Lingurar, aged 35, who faces the same charges.
