Industry broadly backs Shatter plans

THE wider gambling sector has given a cautious welcome to the legislative changes proposed by Alan Shatter to regulate and tax the industry.

Smaller casinos, which stood to lose out if super gambling campuses were allowed to develop, said it would be a positive development.

The Gaming and Leisure Association of Ireland, whose members provide casino-style venues in an unregulated sector, welcomed the Government’s proposals.
