Home-made bombs found
The discovery brings to 30 the number of so-called viable improvised explosive devices (IEDs) found so far this year.
There were 21 found in 2010 and 29 in 2009.
Gardaí say the rise is indicative of the use of such devices by criminals engaged in gang feuds and personal rows is rising.
Gardaí called in an army bomb disposal team after they found suspicious devices on waste ground off Ratoath Road in Finglas, north Dublin on Thursday night.
The bomb experts arrived at 10.50pm and made the devices safe.
They were taken to a military installation for further examination.
