THE Irish Pharmacy Union has warned of the dangers of turning to the internet for healthcare advice.

Its warnings come as a health care study found that 46% of people surveyed were going online for medical advice, due to the expense of a GP visit.

The emerging trend is more prevalent in women than men, with 62% of the women surveyed under 44 saying they would go online when concerned about a medical problem.
