PayPal to create 200 jobs at headquarters in Dublin
It is the second jobs announcement by the company this year and follows the creation of 350 jobs in Dublin since 2009.
The new positions are permanent roles in customer service, risk operations, financial operations, sales and account management.
Candidates must be fluent in English and a second European language, and will be based at the Blanchardstown Centre of Excellence.
PayPal vice president Louise Phelan, said the company has grown substantially in Ireland since it began there in 2003.
“This announcement is a testament to the excellent work and commitment of our current employees,” she said. “We have gone from strength to strength since the official opening of our Centre of Excellence here two years ago. I would also like to thank the IDA for their continued support.”
Jobs and Enterprise Minister Richard Bruton welcomed the announcement and said the Government was determined to ensure that the announcement can be replicated in the coming years.
“If Ireland is to get out of this crisis and get jobs growing again, we must build determinedly on our existing strengths as an economy,” said Mr Bruton.
“One key aspect of this is our base of world-leading internet companies who have established major operations here. My plan to get people back to work includes relentlessly building on this success in order to ensure the maximum job-creation benefit to our economy.
“PayPal, an industry-leading company which will soon employ well over 1,550 people in Dublin, represents a prime example.”
Barry O’Leary, chief executive of IDA Ireland, said: “I am delighted that PayPal continues to successfully develop its Irish operation. The creation of a further 200 jobs, in addition to the more than 350 jobs it has announced since 2009 underlines Ireland’s continuing ability to attract high-caliber foreign direct investment.
