TWO cyclists have died in separate incidents in Monaghan and Belfast.

A 23-year-old man was killed in a hit-and-run incident in Carrickmacross late on Tuesday night. He was pronounced dead at the scene on the N2 Carrickmacross to Castleblaney road.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to the incident, which occurred at about 10.15pm on Tuesday.

The road is closed pending completion of a Garda forensic collision investigation.

Meanwhile, a woman has been killed in a collision with a lorry on the Newtownards Road in Belfast, yesterday morning.

The woman, in her 30s, was hospitalised with head injuries, but died afterwards. Police have appealed for witnesses.
