Gardaí seeking court escapee

GARDAÍ were last night trying to track down a prisoner who managed to slip his handcuffs while being brought to a vacation sitting of Limerick District Court.

The prisoner, named as Martin Morey, aged 19, with an address at Russell House, Broad Street, Limerick had been arrested on foot of a bench warrant and faced several charges.

When his case was called in court, Insp Jerry Horan told Judge Aeneas McCarthy that accuse was unlawfully at large, having escaped from custody.

He was being brought to court by members of the Prison Service.

A spokesman said that the Prison Service was in the process of investigating the escape.
