McNamara clan reunited

MORE than 300 members of the McNamara clan from Ganty in Co Galway yesterday descended on Loughrea for a five-day reunion.

The event included 180 visitors from eight countries, and was opened by the oldest living member, 88-year-old Bridie Uniacke (nee McNamara).

Organiser Tom McNamara said: “We have spent 15 or 16 months planning this event and thanks to email and Facebook and all that kind of thing we have had an excellent response.
