School bus tender complaint

A GROUP representing private operators that run thousands of school bus services is making a complaint to the Competition Authority, claiming the management of the €180 million a year service has never been put out to tender.

The Coach Tourism and Transport Council says the fees to run the system could be reduced if the contract was tendered out.

Yesterday, Junior Minister Ciarán Cannon said currently, only Bus Éireann has the capacity to manage the service.
