Gardaí arrest 250 in gang, republican probes

MORE than 250 suspects were arrested last year in dedicated operations targeting organised crime gangs and dissident republicans.

More than 30 suspected crime bosses were hit in 2010 with tax assessments by the Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB) and some €4 million was collected.

The CAB trained an additional 47 divisional asset profilers in 2010, bringing the total number across the country to 150.
