CF screening for babies

THE Cystic Fibrosis Association of Ireland has welcomed the introduction of newborn screening for Cystic Fibrosis (CF).

Screening for CF has been introduced as an addition to the already existing National New Born Blood Spot Screening Programme in Ireland.

Philip Watt, head of the CFAI said, “CF is being added to the conditions tested for in the “heel prick test” for all new born babies for the first time in Ireland.
