Man, 21, charged over knife attack
Detective Garda Aidan Forrest brought Warren Higgins, aged 21, before Cork District Court.
The detective testified that Higgins was formally arrested, charged and cautioned at 9.45pm on Tuesday at Gurranabraher Garda Station.
Higgins, of Cloyne Road, Midleton, Cork, was charged with one count of assault causing harm to 19-year-old Philip Cronin, at Hollyhill Road, Hollyhill, Cork, on Sunday, June 19.
Higgins made no reply to the charge.
Inspector Eileen Foster made an application to have the defendant remanded in custody until Tuesday to allow time to obtain instructions from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Frank Buttimer, solicitor, said there was a free legal aid application as the defendant was not working.
Judge David Riordan granted legal aid.
Mr Buttimer said there was consent by the defence to a remand in custody until Tuesday, July 5, but indicated that there would probably be an application for bail on that date.
Judge Riordan adjourned the case until that date with Higgins in custody.
