Bounty for Leeside

THE famous tall ship the Bounty slipped into the Port of Cork yesterday.

Bounty for Leeside

Captain Robin Walbridge and his crew caught a fair wind and tied up at Albert Quay two days early. They spent the day getting everything ship-shape before opening their vessel to the public for the weekend.

Originally built for the 1962 film, Mutiny on the Bounty, starring Marlon Brando, the vessel has featured in the smash hit Pirates of the Caribbean II, in a documentary on legendary pirate Blackbeard, in a 2003 History Channel documentary on Captain Bligh and in the 2004 SpongeBob SquarePants movie.

It will open to the public from 11am to 6pm tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday, with admission charges €10 for adults, €5 for children, though children under four years are free.
