Lagarde: History will be kind to ‘heroic’ Brian

HISTORY will be kind to Brian Lenihan and the “heroic” way in which he served as finance minister, his French counterpart, Christine Lagarde, has said.

But she refused to pass verdict on Mr Lenihan’s decision to guarantee the banks, saying it was not the time for “blaming or pointing fingers”.

Thousands of mourners are expected to attend Mr Lenihan’s removal tonight and funeral Mass tomorrow.
