Reilly to make Fair Deal review statement

HEALTH Minister James Reilly will make a statement in the Dáil today on his funding review of the Fair Deal nursing home support scheme.

Approvals for support under the scheme were suspended by the Health Service Executive (HSE) after the discovery of a €100 million funding shortage.

Mr Reilly said the scheme was going to run into trouble because of the way it was planned and funded. An ongoing examination will follow his statement.
