DPP defends time taken on probe into Anglo

THE Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has defended the length of time it is taking the authorities to conduct their investigation into Anglo Irish Bank.

The DPP, James Hamilton, said all but one of the separate modules of the investigation into the conduct of key officials in the bank which first began in February 2009 remained incomplete and the evidence of important witnesses still had to be taken.

He also stressed the fact that no decision had yet been taken on whether or not to prosecute anyone arising out of the Anglo investigation was not due to any lack of resources.
