AT THE launch of a smoke-free playground in Dublin, the Irish Heart Foundation urged the Government to protect children from smoking in cars.

Welcoming the opening of the playground, Michael O’Shea, head of the Irish Heart Foundation, said: “Back in 2004, we led the way with the workplace smoking ban to protect the health of adults but our children have been ignored, left open to the risk of sudden infant death, severe asthma, slow lung growth and other serious illnesses caused by passive smoking.”
