Limerick Buy Local campaign

A LIMERICK accountancy and taxation service for small businesses has unveiled a new initiative aimed at promoting a vibrant local economy.

TaxAssist Accountants Buy Local Campaign aims to link consumers and local businesses to support each other during the economic downturn.

Over the last few weeks, TaxAssist Accountants has been supplying local independent businesses with window stickers to spread the message to the public. The stickers encourage shoppers to “shop local” in Limerick and support the city centre.

Local accountant Roy Finucane said: “Supporting local businesses is something practical that everyone can do to make a small positive difference to the economic climate. And now, more than ever, local businesses also need to support each other by trading locally.

“All of the small businesses we have spoken to are really pleased to support the campaign which is very encouraging.”

Launching the initiative, Minister of State Jan O’Sullivan urged people to give their custom to Limerick shops and businesses.

The Shop Local campaign has been endorsed by Limerick Chamber of Commerce and Mayor of Limerick Cllr Maria Byrne.

Limerick retailers who would like to display a Buy Local sticker or get involved in the campaign should contact TaxAssist Accountants on 061-513320.
