Garda who started and ended his career in one town celebrated

MORE than 300 people attended a special function in Midleton, Co Cork, to honour a Garda super-intendent who is retiring after serving 36 years in the force.

Unusually, Superintendent Flor Horan started his career as an ordinary garda in Midleton in 1975 and ended it 36 years later in the same town as a senior officer.

In between, the married father-of-three also served in Glengarriff, Mayfield, Dublin, Anglesea Street and Fermoy.
