Minimal return on sale of many semi-states: ICTU

TRADE unions have signalled their opposition to the McCarthy report and the proposed sale of major state assets.

The Irish Congress of Trade Unions, the job of which is to defend the interests of members who work at the semi-states, said the report had “little to offer”.

ICTU general secretary David Begg welcomed the report’s conclusion that the transmission networks of the ESB and Bord Gáis should remain in public ownership.
