MICHAEL LOWRY has launched an all-out assault on the Moriarty Tribunal, describing it as a “witch hunt” that wrongly found he helped Denis O’Brien to win the second mobile phone licence.

But Mr Lowry cast an isolated figure last night, with the Government and opposition alike condemning his conduct and Fianna Fáil signalling that it would table a Dáil motion calling on him to resign.

It came as pressure grew on Taoiseach Enda Kenny to answer a series of questions about the licence competition and Fine Gael fundraising.
