Counsel told FG $50k was outside Moriarty remit

TAOISEACH Enda Kenny last night said Fine Gael’s failure to declare a $50,000 donation was “wrong” but that the part had failed to divulge it to the Moriarty Tribunal as it received legal advice in 1998 that it was outside the inquiry’s remit.

Mr Kenny said last night that senior counsel James Nugent had given the party “the clear opinion that this donation did not fall within the remit of the tribunal”.

He ordered for the legal advice to be published on the Fine Gael website.
