A JURY acquitted a married father of nine of sexually assaulting a female garda who was trying to arrest him during the annual Puck Fair in Killorglin.

Cyril Moriarty, aged 53, of Tulligbeg, Killorglin, Co Kerry, had pleaded not guilty to sexual assault, on August 13, 2008. He also denied charges of assault causing harm and obstructing the garda, on the same occasion.

After two-and-a-half hours of deliberation at the Circuit Criminal Court, in Tralee, the jury of six men and six women returned unanimous not guilty verdicts to the assault charges.
