Call to give toll cash to charity

THE Mayor of Drogheda, Councillor Paul Bell, has called for excess tolls charged by Celtic Roads to motorists using the M1 to be donated to charities in the North-East.

“It would only be fitting that the most vulnerable members of the local community should benefit. Otherwise the company will simply pocket these funds,” he said.

He was speaking after the High Court ruled those using the motorway had been overcharged.
