PUT IT TO THE TESTO
We believe some elements of the plan are considered more urgent than others. For example; “Labour will overhaul and consolidate the Road Traffic Acts to maximise their effectiveness“.
I’M YOUR MAN
- Waiting for the day to vote since last Christmas?
You have the freedom to choose whoever you want, but if you’re looking for a father figure and someone to heal the pain, Clare’s Tony Mulcahy will listen without prejudice.
In fairness to Tony, he took the defaced Dromoland poster in good spirit. “Classic pimping! Brilliant. Vote me up before u go-go!”
TRIAL BY TV
- SOME in the media have given up the ghost already. Unable to lay a glove on our slippery candidates, George Hook vowed yesterday that his Newstalk drivetime show “will be a politician- free zone for the remainder of the General Election period“.
It was left then to an unusual source to give Micheál Martin a surprise grilling, as a chat on TV3’s Ireland AM didn’t turn out quite as cosy as the Fianna Fáil leader might have expected (Watch here bit.ly/fJCHuG).
WEB WARS
- It’s getting rather competitive between the prospective coalition partners — at least in some constituencies. Google “Lorraine Higgins” — the Galway East Labour candidate — and see who has bought the top Google Ad for her name. Yes, Fine Gael — for Ms Higgins’ local rival Paul Connaughton Jr.
Misrepresentation or fair game? Or just shoddy spelling?
THE BIG PICTURE
- From time to time it’s no harm to remind our intrepid candidates that all politics isn’t necessarily local. They must remain acutely aware how their actions can touch people’s lives all over the world — such as former Crystal Palace and England man Mark Bright.
@MarkBrighty
President Mubarak just shafted my sports bulletin on BBC London News, our show is now 3mins shorter, that means no QPR/Neil Warnock package.
PREPARE TO FAIL
- Upstart.ie is a collection of artists who are making creative use of spaces around Dublin city that are commonly used for election posters. The aim is to make the role of the arts in Ireland a debate topic during the election campaign. A worthy ambition, but you wouldn’t like to be in their shoes when Keano sees their latest offering.
