THE placing of large flashing road signs to promote Co Limerick independent candidate, John Dillon, the former IFA president, was yesterday condemned as irresponsible and a threat to road safety.

Limerick County Council said six electronic signs with the intermittent messages, Vote No 1 John Dillon, and Dillon Delivers, pose a serious traffic hazard on a busy road.

The signs have been placed in fields facing onto a number of major roads.
