Motorcyclist killed in crash

A MAN was killed when his motorbike crashed with a car just outside Midleton, Co Cork.

Gardaí are seeking witnesses to the crash at around 2.15pm yesterday, about a mile east of the town at Cahermone on the N25.

The motorcyclist was travelling east along the N25 and the car had just joined the main road from the old Youghal Road in Midleton, when they crashed.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and his remains were taken to Cork University Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

Last night gardaí named him as John Cashman from St Mary’s Road, Midleton.

A man and a woman, believed to be in their late 20s and not from the area, were in the car. Neither was injured, but they were extremely distraught.
