LIMERICK City Council was urged yesterday to make every effort to draw down an unspent €5 million for some of its run-down housing areas.

Labour TD Jan O’Sullivan demanded to know why more than 40% of a €10.15m allocation, under a regeneration scheme, had not been utilised “given the huge cutbacks across all other sectors.”

The money was allocated for the purchase of houses, mainly to facilitate residents in the Moyross, Southill, Ballinacurra Weston and St Mary’s Park areas.
