ESB rebrand ‘wasted money’

THE decision to rebrand ESB Customer Supply and ESB Independent Energy as Electric Ireland at a cost of €5m to €6m is a waste of money, according to Fine Gael.

The party’s energy spokesman, Deputy Leo Varadkar said the costs of this exercise will ultimately be paid for by household and business customers.

“This decision has been forced on the ESB by the Commission for Energy Regulation. Ireland’s regulatory rules are driving up energy prices when they should be driving them down,” he said.
