Arctic weather claims victim

A MAN found dead outside his home in Co. Mayo is the latest victim of the arctic weather.

The body of John McCann, a single man in his late forties, was discovered lying in snow and ice at Barnacoogue, Swinford, a short distance from Knock Airport.

A post mortem on Mr McCann, who lived alone, is to be carried out today at Mayo General Hospital in Castlebar.

Garda Superintendent Ronan Galligan confirmed that Mr McCann’s death was believed to be weather related.
