Gardaí hope to identify man’s body

On the fourth anniversary of discovering the man’s body, Gardaí yesterday said they believe they will finally manage to identify the mystery man.

The man’s body was found in a wood in Connemara, Co Galway, on the December 8, 2006.

The body, believed to be 35-50 years of age, was found by hunters in a heavily wooded area close to Lough Inagh in north Connemara.

Gardaí believe he is a missing German but so far they have been unable to make a positive match.

“We need to compare DNA and other data but there is a strong chance that the body is that of a German who has been missing. It may be some time yet before we can make a positive identification but we are hopeful,” said a garda spokesperson in Clifden.

The man was about 5’6” to 5’11“, of average build and with brown or auburn hair.

He wore a yellow waterproof jacket with hood, a navy shirt, silver cardigan, blue jeans and size 8 beige shoes.
