No takers for house next door to Wayne Dundon

THE slump in the property market has hit new lows in one of the most policed neighbourhoods in the country.

No takers for house next door to Wayne Dundon

Another bargain basement property has gone on the market in Ballinacurra Weston — just a few doors from the home of major crime figure Wayne Dundon.

A house next door to his extensive house in Ballinacurra Weston went on the market five months ago and has attracted just one bid of €25,000.

In recent days, another house a few doors down from the Dundon home went on the market and De Courcy Auctioneers say it has an asking price of just €60,000.

The mid-terrace house is in excellent condition and its downstairs consists of a kitchen, living room, toilet, bathroom.

Upstairs has two bedrooms, shower and toilet. It has gas heating and is fitted with PVC windows.

But the house directly next door to the Dundon home needs major refurbishment as it was damaged by fire before being put on the market.

Auctioneer, Pat O’Dea of Roberts Auctioneers said: “We have had three phone calls about the house and one bid for €25,000. We are looking for bids of €45,000 or more. It is still on the market. The house needs repairs as there was a small fire there, which has caused smoke damage.

“There is a bit of work to be done on it and is not immediately habitable, but for €45,000 in a falling market it is still very cheap,” the auctioneer said.

Wayne Dundon has only made brief visits to his home since moving abroad last summer. He has lived in Britain and Turkey at different times.

But the prospect of having him as a next door neighbour is not proving very appealing, even at such a knockdown price.

It is not known if there have been any bids for the house at Hyde Road, a few doors away, which has now gone on the market.

Armed Garda patrols are on round-the-clock duty in the Ballinacurra Weston area which is a base for the McCarthy Dundon gang.
