Hotel puts heart and sole into fish shop

AN HISTORIC city hotel has seized upon a business opportunity and is hoping to hook customers with a new high-end fish and chip shop.

The luxury four-star Imperial Hotel in Cork city has opened the Fish Hatch — an outlet serving up premium cooked-to-order fresh fish and chips, complete with gourmet mushy peas served with a hint of mint, just around the corner from its South Mall entrance.

Hotel owner John Flynn designed the outlet on Pembroke Street with an order hatch facing directly into the hotel’s kitchens.
