Portable solution to spend a penny

FESTIVALGOERS are so fed up with queuing up for revolting portaloos during gigs, they are investing in secret pocket toilets.

Portable solution to spend a penny

Sales of a discreet device, known as ‘pocketoilet’ have soared by 50% in the summer months, including big surges during music festival weekends, such as Oxegen.

The gadget, which is based on technology used in space exploration, has also proved a hit with motorists, who are afraid of getting caught short in traffic jams or long journeys.

The device, which fits comfortably into a car’s glove compartment, consists of a pad which turns liquid into a solid gel in seconds.

The makers claim that it ensures “no leaks, smells, or mess, is super-absorbent and idea for all males aged from three to 103.”

The product, which costs €5.99 in Ireland and is sold at Halfords, looks set to be a hit this Christmas as a novelty gift. A sales assistant at Halfords in Mahon Retail Park in Cork said yesterday: “We’ve none in stock at the moment. They’re selling really well.”
