SINN FÉIN TD Arthur Morgan will not contest the next general election, in what is being seen as a major blow for the party.

Morgan will not seek re-election

Mr Morgan, who has been a TD for the Louth constituency since 2002 made the announcement last night. It had been rumoured at both local and national level he was not going to stand again. Sinn Féin has four TDs.

Mr Morgan said he was leaving frontline politics to return to the family business in fish processing and said it had been “a great honour” to have represented the people of Louth.
