DOCTORS have appealed to the Government to consider the long-term effects of more budget cuts on health and healthcare.

The Irish Medical Organisation (IMO) is concerned about further planned cuts of €1bn, a moratorium on staff and the loss of up to 3,000 support and clerical staff.

THE IMO wants the Government to consider recommendations in their pre-budget submission that include reversing the 50 cent prescription charge under the medical card and long-term illness schemes.
