Red-faced Mary lets slip her next X Factor song

X FACTOR sensation Mary Byrne yesterday gave away the secret of next weekend’s song – and admitted she is shrinking.

Red-faced Mary lets slip her next X Factor song

She’s lined up to sing the Faith Hill number, There You’ll Be, from the Pearl Harbour sound-track – and she has dropped a dress-size too.

The 50-year-old Ballyfermot, Dublin, supermarket cashier is among favourites to win this year’s show.

She told Derek Mooney on his RTÉ radio show broadcast from Co Cavan, that this weekend will be a ballad-special on the X Factor.

She said: “It will be a new ballad, not an old ballad. It’s beautiful song and it’s very touching. That’s all I can say. If I can put it across the way I put across my old ballads the whole of Ireland and myself will be crying.”

MaBy insisted she was banned by X Factor producers from revealing the secret but she gave away that the song was sung by Faith Hill. When Mooney guest Tommy Fleming guessed the song would be There You’ll Be, Mary admitted “Yes”. But she then recovered to say all she could admit was that the Hill song she will sing is from Pearl Harbour.

She also admitted she is beginning to win her decades-long battle with the bulge.

She said: “I feel fantastic. I really do. I’ve been losing weight. I’ve lost nearly a whole dress size.”

She added to the fun by revealing that she rejected mentor Louis Walsh’s plan to move her out of the home she is sharing with younger X-Factor contestants so she could have more rest.

She said: “They are great kids and I love living there. Louis just thought I wasn’t getting enough rest so he decided if I wasn’t getting enough rest he was going to put me in a hotel room, but I thought that would be very, very boring so I decided to stay where I am.”

She joked that another attraction could be 54-year-old Wagner Carrilho. She said: “He kind of creeps around during the night now and then to see if my door is open.”
