LABOUR leader Eamon Gilmore has admitted his party has not costed the voluntary redundancy scheme it is proposing for the public service.

Mr Gilmore is proposing that 15,000 staff be cut from the public service through the voluntary scheme. But he says it is too early to estimate how much this would cost the state in the short-term in redundancy packages.

“These are obviously things that are negotiated, and the funding of it would be obviously from the savings that you make on payroll in years succeeding that,” he said.
